Analysis of the Deflection of Over-Truss Bridge Deck Using Finite Element Approach

Deflection is basically the bend or curve that occurs within materials when loads are applied to them. A structure should be designed able properly resist and failure do makes deflection visible consequently lead failure. During course of this work dead load, live load environmental wind acting on bridge were calculated using Analytical method used analyze numerically STAAD pro software. The Plate stress animation from software showed portions under intense loading concrete deck. From animation, Steel beams 42, 45, 49, 53 57 directly supporting these decks chosen for analysis. These analyzed in terms deflection, shear bending. values shear, bending five steel compared both approaches their percentage difference was calculated. Comparing results obtained analytical numerical gave a 4.39 %, 0.6 0.93 3.67 % 1.19 6.29 3.23 1.07 4.28 1.14 bending, 12.5 7.6 4.08 2.45 2.6 deflection. 80 less than 5 with result, it concluded methods suitable design. Numerical nevertheless more economical accurate because incorporates reliable safety factors cater uncertainties its approach
